One KEY Shift to Improve Your Leadership Communication

This story is for any human who wants to speak up more, be more confident at work, and find themselves unable to create change.
It goes like this...
There you are in a meeting again.
Excited about an idea you have,
but unable to share that excitement with others.
Words are forming in your mouth and brain but somehow that idea doesn't leave your lips.
You're silent.
In your head.
Frustrated.
You're losing focus.
Not able to concentrate on what people are saying because your inner judge is giving you a hard time.
You’ll never figure this out
You’ll never be seen as the leader you want to be
You’ll never get promoted
Until you hear it - your idea.
Voiced and spoken in the room.
Only it's not you, who has said it.
It's Mike.
And everyone loves Mike’s idea.
Now you're angry.
How on earth could this have happened again?

You’ve read all the books about speaking up, having more confidence, leadership communicaton. And for some reason you can’t put the theory into action.
If this was about skills, you would have you would have already applied everything you’ve learned about.
This is about STATE - about you being different first.
Harvard teacher and researcher Robert Kegan calls this a developmental vs a technical problem. You must be developmentally different in some way first before you can apply new technical skills.
